Texas Marriage Requirements

Before we can legally marry you, Texas law requires:

1. A Valid Texas Marriage License

You must obtain a marriage license from any Texas county clerk's office.

2. Government-Issued Identification

Bring valid photo identification when applying for your marriage license.

3. The 72-Hour Waiting Period

Texas requires a 72-hour waiting period between obtaining your marriage license and getting married unless you qualify for an exemption.

4. License Validity

Your marriage license is valid for 90 days from the date it is issued.

5. Both Parties Must Be Present

Both individuals getting married must be present for the ceremony and able to freely consent to the marriage.

6. No Witnesses Required

Texas does not require witnesses to legally marry.
